The Tamil Nadu History Congress has decided to honour eminent historians each year. In his process, during the 15th Session of the Tamil Nadu History Congress held at Periyar Maniammai University, Vallam, Thanjavur (2008) Professor N.Suburamanian an Eminent and Senior Historian of Tamil Nadu has been honoured for his distinct Contribution to the History and Historiography of South Indian History in general and Tamil Nadu particular. Following this, the executive and General Body of the Tamil Nadu History Congress unanimously decided to continue the good tradition in the years to come. Hence, the Office bearers of Tamil Nadu History Congress met and decided to Honour Padmashri Iravatham Mahadevan with the title Distinguished and Eminent Epigraphist for his distinct and Singular contribution to the field of Epigraphy for over half a decade. Tamil Nadu History Congress considers it as great honour and privilege to honour an Eminent Epigraphist like Shri Iravatha Mahadevan. For the 17th Session, the Tamil Nadu History Congress has unanimously decided to honour the senior most historian of Tamil Nadu, Professor K.Rajayyan, Former Professor and Head, School of Historical Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai for his unique contribution to Modern History of Tamil Nadu. For the 18th Session, the Tamil Nadu History Congress has unanimously decided to honour the senior most historian of Tamil Nadu, Professor K.V. Raman, Former Professor & Head, Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Madras, Chennai with the title "Distinguished and Eminent Archaeologist of Tamil Nadu" for his unique and noted contribution to History and Archaeology. Tamil Nadu History Congress during its 19th Annual Session at Annamalai University, the alma mater and the great institution of Philanthropy and Learning where Professor Govindasamy served with distinction and honour, has great pleasure in honouring Professor M.S.Govindasamy with the title "Distinguished and Senior Historian of Tamil Nadu" for his noted contribution to the History of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu History Congress during its 20th Annual Session at St. Mary’s College, Tuticorin has great pleasure in honouring Professor N. K. Narayenan with the title "Distinguished Teacher and Senior Historian of Tamil Nadu" for his noted contribution to the realm of History. Tamil Nadu History Congress during its 21st Annual Session at St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, Cuddalore has great pleasure in honouring Professor P. Jagadeesan with the title "Distinguished and Eminent Historian of Tamil Nadu" for his noted contribution to Social History of Tamil Nadu . Tamil Nadu History Congress during its 22nd Annual Session at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli has great pleasure in honouring Professor Y. Subbarayalu with the title “Distinguished Scholar and Eminent Epigraphist of Tamil Nadu” for his distinct contribution to Tamil Epigraphy and for illuminating Chola history with his brilliant scholarly contribution.
